About Us
In order to tackle climate change and improve biodiversity in the Sacred Valley, we have been reforesting the Yanahuyalla area, found in Calca district, with native trees for over four years.
Each year, around 4,000 trees have been planted. In February 2024, with the help of 500 volunteers, 10,000 Queuñas were planted around a lagoon.
Our project aims at generating income for the beneficiary communities, so they will be stimulated to preserve the new planted forests.
We have already signed agreements with the community of Yanahuaylla and drawn up preliminary agreements with other neighboring communities and the provincial municipality of Calca.
Our Approach
That is why we developed the Edible Forest of Calca.
By planting native fruit trees such as Molle and Tara, we not only restore biordiversity and capture carbon but also generate income through the sale of fruit and other agroforestry products.
This model ensures that communities remain actively engaged in protecting the forests they help to create.
Building on our experience, we are now aiming at:
- Mitigation: To reforest with 1 million native trees.
Adaptation: To implement water harvesting systems.
Engagement: To involve local and regional governments in adopting concrete mitigation and adaptation measures.
